A Letter to my Son…

To my son:

As the days go by we get closer and closer to meeting your sister. You spend most mornings cuddling with me and talking to Mommy’s tummy, or bringing your cars to Mommy’s tummy asking your sister to play with you already. You show your excitement when someone comes to our house and you eagerly need to show them your sister’s room saying you are going to be a big brother. Your excitement makes Mommy and Daddy just that much more excited to meet your sister and see you be the amazing big brother we know you will be.

I have caught myself a couple times laying in bed at night after you are asleep just thinking about how I know you are going to be that protective big brother. I know you are also going to be that big brother to tease your sister and bug her when she does not want to be bugged, but I know you will do it out of love. You have grown into such a caring little man, and no matter how much you grow up Mommy just wants you to know you will always be Mommy’s baby boy. You were the one to make me a Mommy for the first time and that has been the greatest thing to ever happen to me because I do not remember what life was like before we had you here.

You bring Mommy and Daddy so much joy, laughter, smiles, and love. You and your sister are our reason why for everything we do.

While there is so much joy in welcoming your little sister into our lives in the next couple months, Mommy is also very nervous (even though I may not like to admit it). The past two years it has just been you, me, and Daddy. Since the day you were born your Daddy’s and my life has changed and everything we do is for you. From the moment you wake up to the time you go to bed, we spend our days doing things you love… playing with cars, going to Daddy’s shop to sit on his dirt bike or work on his race car, watching Mr. Bean or the Thriller music video on repeat – we plan our days around you because when you are happy we are happy. We plan family outings that we know you will enjoy and that will create family memories that will last a lifetime.

In just a few short months we will be adding your little sister to this crazy family of ours. Mommy just wants you to know that even though you may have to share Mommy and Daddy’s time when she arrives, I will always, no matter how old you are, have the time to: listen to you when you just need to vent, hug and kiss you when you just need some love, give you cuddles when you are feeling lonely, hold you when you may need to just cry, and help you when you need some help or advice. Mommy and Daddy will always be Mommy and Daddy, to you and your sister, no matter what, and that will never change.

Our life may be changing in these next couple months and there may be a lot more pink in our lives, bows, dolls, and maybe barbies eventually to, but one thing is for sure – you will always be Mommy and Daddy’s greatest blessing, it just turns out that we now have two greatest blessings – you and your sister – and we love you both so so much… in the morning and in the afternoon, in the evening and underneath the moon… never forget it!

Love always and forever,

Your Mommy ❤ xox
